Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about using MergeFund.

How do I get paid for completing a bounty?

Once your PR is merged, MergeFund automatically detects the merge and initiates a payout to your connected payment method. You'll receive an email confirmation, and funds typically arrive within 1-3 business days.

What payment methods are supported?

We support Stripe Connect (direct bank transfers), PayPal, and cryptocurrency (USDC). You can set up your preferred payment method in your account settings.

How do I reference a bounty in my PR?

Include "Fixes #[issue-number]", "Resolves #[issue-number]", or "Closes #[issue-number]" in your PR description. Replace [issue-number] with the GitHub issue number linked to the bounty.

What happens if multiple people submit PRs for the same bounty?

Only the first PR to be merged receives the payout. Maintainers review all submissions and choose the best one to merge. Quality and speed both matter.

Can I work on multiple bounties at once?

Yes! There's no limit to how many bounties you can work on simultaneously. Just make sure you can deliver quality work on each one.

What if my PR needs changes after review?

That's normal! Address the feedback from the maintainer and update your PR. The bounty remains available until someone's PR is merged.

How long do I have to complete a bounty?

Most bounties have an expiration date shown on the bounty card. After this date, the bounty may be closed or the maintainer may choose a different contributor.

What percentage does MergeFund take?

MergeFund charges a 5% platform fee on bounties. This covers payment processing, infrastructure, and operations. The fee is charged to maintainers when funding a bounty.

Can I cancel a bounty I created?

Yes, maintainers can cancel unfunded bounties at any time. If a bounty is already funded and no PRs have been submitted, you can request a refund.

Is my code public?

MergeFund works with both public and private repositories. Your code remains in your GitHub repository with whatever visibility settings you've chosen.
